The Christian Curriculum Connection where you can buy "Home School Books for Less"
Another homeschool Mom (who is a dear friend of mine) and I were at a picnic in May 2001 when we found ourselves talking about selling homeschool books. We started rattling off ideas and plans for actually opening a consignment bookstore! This was somewhat surprising, because I had limited knowledge of consignment stores; the only experience I had had with one was when I had operated a small clothing consignment store for the three months following my high school graduation. Our backgrounds were not unusual. I had quit a full-time teaching career in order to homeschool our children and my friend's husband was unemployed due to a severe job-related back injury. All we knew was that we had hearts eager to do two things:
So, we sought the Lord for His direction and He didn't allow us to waste any time. In less than a month our desire was a reality. In early June 2001, my friend and I transformed my children's playroom into a bookstore. My children were not happy, but they survived the relocation of toys from the playroom to their bedrooms. My friend and I called nearly every homeschooler we knew, asking them to consider consigning their books with us. Weeks later, with only ten consignors (consisting of eight close friends and the two of us), we typed up inventory on my ancient Mac computer and carefully set up shop. We didn't have a website (as I wasn't even connected to the Internet yet) and we planned to use a simple calculator to total purchases. Then on the morning of June 23, 2001, The Christian Curriculum Connection was dedicated and prayed over to be used by our Lord for His Glory. At exactly 9 a.m., we opened the doors with books on just four shelves and a table. The Grand Opening day was an exciting testimony to what God will do when we simply trust and obey. We were amazed at how many homeschoolers God sent our way that first day. And God has continued to bless. Within a few months, my friend felt the Lord leading her in a different direction. Over time, the Lord has sent many more consignors to The Christian Curriculum Connection. Today, more than 100 homeschool families from four states have entrusted me with their books to sell on consignment. The store has grown from a few sparse shelves to a store overflowing with books. Every week the Lord gives me the privilege of assisting new and veteran homeschoolers to locate quality educational materials for their children. While the "brick and mortar" store is open on an appointment-only basis, my website -- -- is "open" 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.
Throughout this site, you may notice the use of words such as 'we', 'us' and 'our' even though the preceding paragraphs say that the lady with whom I opened this store is no longer my partner. There is no contradiction whatsoever. It would be absolutely impossible for me to own and operate The Christian Curriculum Connection (and homeschool four children)apart from my Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.
